My journey into the world of weaving

Scarf – more than 1/2 way done!

42 inches are woven. 18 more to go! It’s a tight little project, very easy treadling pattern. I’m concentrating on the left selvedge – that shows the most variance.
As I wove my bit tonight I reflected on today’s visit to a couple of the museums in Lowell, built upon the textile industry. We had visited the boarding house where some 20 girls around the age of 14 would stay and work in the mills. What a regimen they had! Great food but no time to themselves and yet they were able to enjoy some of the cultural happenings in 19th century Lowell. What a life of necessity!
And here I sit, weaving my little purple scarf! I feel fortunate.
