My journey into the world of weaving

Scarves off the loom!

They measure 11.5 in width and 58 inches long. 2 inches short of what I wanted. I also ended up with much more loom waste at the end – 23 inches. I guess with the 4 additional inches which should have been woven, it would have been 19 inches. Better but definitely loom waste!

I will fringe them and then wash and dry them. I’m anxious to see how they full.

I prepared the warp for the next project – only 3 yards. I am making one scarf with Mango Moon and bamboo. It will be a twin to my first project!

  1. Loom waste is for playing with, trying out different things—treadlings, yarns, colors, whatever seems interesting. I usually plan for extra length to do just that. It’s a good way to play (you can make all this mistakes you want for no one cares) and to learn.

  2. That’s a great idea! I didn’t think of it nor was I prepared but next time, well almost next time, I’ll plan for it!

  3. Very attractive! Everything looks very good.
