This morning I finished threading the heddles. Only one minor snafu. Two of the heddles on shaft 3 were tangled. I can’t fix until I take the whole shaft out! But I had a temporary heddle on hand so it’s been added and threaded. All of the heddles on shafts 2 and 3 are in use!
I also finished sleying the reed – two ends per dent. Not too bad. That goes more quickly and smoothly than threading, I find.
So now all is ready to tie off and start weaving! Of course, making sure the tension is just right.
Began tying off and ran into some troubles. Kind of hard to describe but it felt like I was losing tension. So I have loosely tied off and will take a break to return to finish the job.
I am surprised again by the multitude of different problems I can face! I’ve never had a problem with this part before. First time for everything, I guess.
(Edited to add what the problem was! I had the apron rod going over the beam, not under and over! I have never done that, never. Did I feel stupid? Yes. But at least the feeling of getting it corrected and seeing what I should be seeing was worth it! It’s that humility thing again.)
