My journey into the world of weaving

Huck Weave

I have begun to weave the huck. I’ve only done one repeat and so maybe not enough but I am a little concerned. It doesn’t look like it should! This picture doesn’t show it very clearly but here it is so far!

The threading is 24242421313131. The tie up is 1-4, 2-3, 1-3-4, 2-3-4. And the treadling is 25252523434343. I am using 8/2 cotton and my epi is 20. The draw-in is a lot! So I have a feeling I should have made them wider.

With the light of the new day tomorrow, I will check everything over again! Yes, even the threading.

  1. I can’t really see what’s going on, so hopefully you’ll resolve any issues with rechecking everything. One thing is for certain, it definitely will change with washing! That’s one of the things that makes huck so much fun.

  2. I’m with Leigh. If we could blow up your photo, it might help.

  3. Well! Take a look at my blog header! There it is! Please do evaluate! Thanks!

  4. I had the same experience recently with a huck lace sample. I rang up my weaving friend/mentor and exclaimed in a panic and she said ‘ have you washed it yet? It never looks as it should on the loom!’ Phew. It turned out fine after washing.
