My journey into the world of weaving

Work in progress

By work, I mean the wall hangings. I promised pictures, but really, there isn’t much to see yet. As I weave, I wonder what the virtue is in seeing a project to the end, no matter what?

I began with something fairly clear and concrete in mind but it has taken on a life of its own. I seem to be at the mercy of the yarn.

I am playing with color, treadling, pattern, and even thickness of yarns. I’m combining yarns into a warp. So in that sense, it is satisfying. But I really don’t have anything in mind anymore! I’m glad it’s a fairly short warp but I do need to decide if it is one piece or a few. I’m thinking I’ll do a few, breaking up the project into smaller bits.

To what end, I am still not sure. But I guess as long as I feel it’s a learning experience, that’s good.

In the meantime, I pick up the spinning wheel on Sunday! I’ll definitely post its arrival.
