My journey into the world of weaving

Finding my center again

I have just finished threading the heddles. Next, tie onto back beam and then wind on warp.

My Tools of the Trade loom now sits in one of my front rooms. It is a lighter room and nice window views. Here it is:

  1. Hi, in one of your earlier posts you mentioned replacing the cords that hold the apron on a Norwood loom. I have a Norwood loom and one of my kitties chewed the cord – but only one. I have 2 questions for you. What kind of cord should I use to replace the damaged cord and would you suggest replacing all the cords to match. I have been out of weaving for a few years and would like to start back into it now that I’ve retired. But first, loom must be maintained! Thanks for your help.

  2. Hi Ruth,
For the back beam, I did replace all of the cords. And it was with just some nice cotton twine from the hardware store. These are individual lengths so it was a trick getting them all the same length and tied at the same tension but I did. For the front beam it is just one long cord, wrapped around the beam and tied off. I have added a couple of pictures which should show up under “Weaving Pictures”. Hope this helps!
