New Wheel!

newwheelI went to the Fiber Revival today and one of the first things I did was buy this!

It’s a Hitchhiker wheel from The Merlin Tree

I am so excited to have it and look forward to vacationing with it in a few weeks. So much easier than bundling up the Ashford Traditional into the car!

And yes I bought some fiber. Some roving from Mulberry March Designs and Mad Color Fiber Arts.

So much fun! Also tried my hand at an electric spinner – interesting!

Second cloth off of the loom

This second cloth is off the loom. I need to baste the ends and then wet finish it. Then it should be ready for sewing.

I am preparing a warp for a third piece of cloth. I am having a small challenge putting some colors together. I have 6 more bunches of 10 to warp and I am trying to figure out what color or colors. A light and dark green are the emphasis of this warp. There are 5 bunches of a mixed green and burgandy yarn. It’s kind of like painting, trying to figure out the composition. Ultimately I know I can’t go wrong – it’ll be what it is.

Spinning away still. Spinning a Leicester fiber and it does spin up very nicely.

I should be able to begin to dress the loom this weekend.

Weaving continues…..

Just not at a great rate! I finished the third napkin today and began the fourth. So that project is progressing. Wouldn’t it be nice if I finished before the end of August!

Spinning away. I have quite a stash of handspun so I think my next project has got to be something with that. I would like to spin some material to make into a tunic and wonder if I have enough? That’s a project in of itself to figure out!

I did go to the Fiber Revival last weekend and purchased some more fiber. Some alpaca/wool mix from ParkerRiver Alpacas and a skein from Enchanted Knoll.

Weekend fiber activities

Aside from threading 240 of the 480 ends for the doubleweave blanket, I also wet finished my last two scarves (using handspun stash) and set two skeins handspun with the gray alpaca cria. The only thing I have not done today is spin! I have a little more of the gray alpaca to spin up.

And next weekend is the Winter Fuzz Fest! I went last year. This year’s seems to have a focus on natural fibers!
